| • "The Challenges are fun, and the poker's good too. I found the Challenges to be an interesting and welcome addition to Poker Superstars 3. "Challenges" are scenarios in which the cards that you get are typically scripted, and you get to see if you can beat the other players with them. At it's easiest, you get pocket Aces every hand, and see if you can isolate single players to go all-in against you (fairly easy)...down to starting with just "a chip and a chair" and see if you can parlay that into a fortune (fairly NOT easy). There's a lot of chance mixed in to the Challenges, but it's still fun. There's also Gold Chips to win during the game (similar to trophies in other games) which adds something to the overall game dynamic...but in the end, it's all about the poker. I have to admit, I play a lot of online poker these days, but some of that time is spent trying to not get attached to a terrible table...you know, where there are crazy people that play crazily. Depending on my mood, that may be interesting, but typically I want to sit down and try to improve my game and do well and play against people that actually seem to care about how they play. That's where the Poker Superstars game comes in. I found the AI to be interesting and somewhat challenging when the stakes were high enough, and I can play right now against opponents that seem to care how they play. It did have some flaws...at the low stakes, the computer opponents would go all-in a lot, seemingly crazily, but their pot-odds typically said that's what they should do...the computer opponents just didn't have enough chips to play differently. Part of that is just how the tournament is set up. It's set up for the TV audience...drive the action fast and furious so that the game can be broadcast in bite-size chunks...I just wish the game could have deviated from that a bit to allow longer sessions to occur...of course, maybe some people out there think that this is a good thing. Overall, I thought it was worth a look, especially if you like poker" - skinflint You can familiarize with our users' comments about the given game and add your own comments read more comments or add yours |
